Kendall is my spirit guide of the spray tan, my go-to gal for inspiration, and now & forevermore a college graduate! Everyone needs a Kendall. I'm not even slightly exaggerating to say that friendship with her changed my life. We've been by each other's sides through highs and lows. From the various seasons of life that we've walked through together, I know that no matter what, Kendall is someone that I can trust to be there to walk through it with me, no questions asked. She is a beloved friend to everyone who is lucky enough to know her and be loved by her. I’m so thankful for the way she’s included me and loved me over the years. She is strong & kind, loving, generous, wild and childlike. She has the best explosive and contagious laugh, an inexplicable capacity for depth and compassion, and will always & forever be the life of the party. She's truly a beautiful person, inside and out. I am so happy and thankful to call this treasure a forever friend.
So there ^^ is my public declaration of my undying love! I'm so happy to celebrate this milestone and achievement with you, Ken! You did the damn thing; *toasts champagne glass*. Can't wait to see what your bright future holds! Cheers to you!
Marfa has been a must-see destination on my list for years! The quirky and interesting arts and phenomena of the region have always seemed wildly fascinating, so I very easily said YES when I had the opportunity to explore Marfa with some of my best pals.
We assumed that surely the desert would be scorching and dry, as most of these summer days have been. It was a shock to arrive and feel dewy mountain air in the mid-sixties. During our weekend stay, the spectacular stars and the curious Marfa lights eluded us due to overcast and stormy skies throughout, which was a bummer but I'll definitely be back. A huge and unexpected plus was that our trip happened to coincide with the Marfa Film Festival. We got to meet many a surreal folk who were amongst the coolest people we've ever interacted with. We were able to join in on some of the festivities, and each of us was delightedly surprised at how friendly and interesting everybody that we met was.
The trip was a hit for many reasons, but some of my favorite moments were cruising in the car (for 20 + hours) with the gals. We laughed, we fought (as in physically brawled), and talked and talked and talked some more. It was a much needed and treasured trip.
Travel tips: Take a minivan. Check the weather before you leave. Take turns playing music. Make sure all your rest stops are at Stripes; they have top notch commodes!
Lini is one of those people that has a magnetic pull. It feels good to be in her company. She's a laugh a minute. The things that come out of her mouth shock and slay. She's a dreamer and a hopeless romantic. I admire so many things about this beloved friend of mine. I've seen her go through valleys and remain unwaveringly steadfast and full of light. She chooses to trust God and fights for kindnesses and goodness, even when it seems to be in short supply. I'm so proud and lucky to be loved by her.
Public service announcement: do yourself a favor & hire Lini to braid your hair sometime. She is a gifted & talented woman. She can miraculously make my bald head look like Amber Fillerup's extension laden barbie hair, blessed be! So, if you're ever in the market for a hair miracle, I suggest you contact her.
SO MANY heart-melting photos from this family session with the Mallons; you can feel their warmth and love just by looking at them. I am truly so happy that by a twist of circumstances I got to snap Corrie and her beautiful family at her dad's ranch. The pictures don't do justice to the vastness of beauty that they have there. Their property is a little slice of heaven on earth. Hands down, my favorite part of being a photographer is showing up to a shoot as a stranger and leaving as a friend.
I met Haley through a friend of a friend. I always wonder & get a little nervous before a shoot when I've never met the person who will be on the other side of the lens. Naturally, I want to be liked, but more than that I want people to be in love with their photos and have an incredible experience. A couple days before our shoot was scheduled, Haley told me her plans for our shoot involved popping some champagne. In that moment I knew that our shoot was going to be a good ol' time! Not surprisingly at all, we had really cool chats and quickly established that Haley is an accomplished badass & dang photogenic. This photoshoot was a dream. Congrats on your graduation Haley! I'm so happy that we got to make some beautiful art together and that I got to document this momentous time with you. Cheers!
